Description:

Once upon a time, Sylvanus brought forth a daughter. She was as pure as the mountain spring, a refreshing saviour in the desert, a sister to the sky and earth. Seeing the joy Shune brought to her father, Bael was jealous and angry. He journeyed to the heart of the north, and from the ancient ice there, he tore a cup of purest crystal ice and poured his rage into it. Then he bade the most beautiful of His followers to remove his clothes and swim in a pool that Shune favored.

Enticed by the presence of this beautiful man, Shune approached him and spoke with him. He brought forth honeyed words and deceived the naive goddess, convincing her to share a simple drink of wine with him. Blinded by the man's radiance and her own curiosity, Shune accepted his drink, but dared him to drink half of hers. Seeing she would not be swayed, the man obeyed, taking his drink before she took hers. Thus did Shune drink half a measure of Bael's and rage. Poisoned, Shune drowned the man. In her pain, she caused the rivers to overflow their banks, the oceans to sweep their shores. Many died from her throes. Tainted by the Destroyer's rage, Shune left her father, becoming erratic in her temper. Some days she would be gentle and kind, on others she would wax angry and lash her domain with fury.

Priests of Shune act as intercessors on the faithful's behalf. Their prayers are a sweet balm to the goddesses' anger and pain. They soothe her when she requests it; they sacrifice to her when she demands it.

History:

Description:

The priests of Sylvanus are the Druids. They hold that the land and all that live upon it are to be protected from the encroachment of civilization. Druids are the guardians of nature in all its forms. They strive to maintain a balance, while understanding that events run in cycles. Sometimes, through the actions of a selfish few, the balance swings too far out of cycle. That is when the Druids will act.

Duties:

Ceremony. Every solstice is a time of great importance to Sylvanus. Spring represents the height of fertility; Summer, the fullness of life; Fall, the harvest and old age; Winter, death and waiting. Each of these nights, the priest must perform certain rites, and will be unavailable for any but the direst emergencies.

Protection. Druids are required to protect all land from those who would harm and abuse it. They must also protect those wild animals that depend on the land.

Preserve Balance. Druids constantly work to keep law and chaos, good and evil, in balance so that neither one may dominate or destroy the other.

Retribution. Druids punish those who seek to harm or abuse the land.
