3rd-fly

Description: Left-handed, violet eyes, pale gold hair, black skin, 5'1" tall, 123lb, willowy build. Worships Corellon. B. 2576.

The most beautiful woman you will ever meet. Her soft violet eyes seem to drown you, and her pale gold hair is a striking contrast to her ebon skin. She is poetry incarnate, every motion surreal, every nuance of body and inflection of voice unconsciously perfect. She normally dresses in light, flowing, diaphanous robes, with a single bright evergreen colored scarf (a gift from Kelsenellenelvial (PC)) loosely tied around her throat. A beaded silver necklace lies under the scarf (the necklace of missiles), and an intricately worked gold ring showing leaping stags circles the little finger of her right hand (R. Jumping). On her left index finger is a simple band of silver.

History: Aleana is the only child of King Ferain Til'haren. She is a tomboy and a warrior of some note. Her first real battle was with ogres in the Corinian Forest with Seliveyan Keliveyr, Warden of Trailkeep as her captain. She personally slew five ogres, including their leader. At court, her father tried to get her to act like a princess, but she absolutely refused. In the Hartland, her behavior would have been scandalous. Among the Elves, she was and is a source of much enjoyment and love.

Aleana's voice is considered a Royal Treasure. "She should have been a Bard," Belgar Ironheart, the King of the Western Dwarves, once said.

When the Hartland asked that an ambassador of direct royal blood be sent, King Ferain agonized over sending his own daughter. She made the answer for him - charming a warship's captain and crew with her beauty and voice, and sailing the lot of them west to Calanport, and then overland to Danar. Her trip was a great success, until she returned to the Silver Forest and was kidnapped by the Dragon Cult - under the direction of Seloveyan's half brother, Vaeron. She was rescued by Elven adventurer Gareth (PC) and the rest of the Iron Company, recaptured by Vaeron Keliveyr, and was finally used as a pawn to discredit Seloveyan and gain control over her father, King Ferain Til'haren. Vaeron then used her as part of a ritual sacrifice and as a lure to destroy the Iron Company.

The Iron Company failed to rescue Aleana in time. Vaeron succeeded in sacrificing her life to Bael to gain power. Her soul was imprisoned somewhere in the Abyss until Kitai Analor rescued her soul at the cost of his own life (2807). Her soul was placed in the body of an evil Drow priestess who had been born on the same day as Aleana. The priestess's soul had been destroyed by the Baelites. She was then taken to Peacewood where she still lives. Aleana has given up her claim to the throne of the Silver Forest. For a time, she was somewhat bitter about her fate, but slowly came to accept it.

She serves Peacewood as an ambassador to the Hartland, though few Hartlanders know her true identity. She was also the main reason why Peacewood Elves avoided the company of Silver Forest Elves, until their reconciliation after the restoration of the Empire of the Hartland, for she wed a Golden Flyer. For a brief time, as Elves measure it, she was blissfully happy. But her joy was not meant to last: Her beloved died defending a human settlement from a red Dragon in the Lesser Barrier, near the Talgoth Forest. As the centuries passed, and her grief lessened, she became a friend and admirer of Azzeln Vaetha, in whom she saw a kindred spirit. She often looked after his younger children when he and their mothers are away. There were many at the Imperial Court who suspect that they sought comfort with each other, for both had lost loved ones - hers to a noble cause, and his to the old age that often makes a tragedy of loving a human. Azzeln's death in 4191 was another blow to her, but one she was prepared for. Still later, the death of Seloveyan, in many ways more her father than her true sire, left her alone of all those she had shared her life with.

Aleana still serves her people well, representing their interests at the Imperial Court. She has many close friends and confidantes who will defender her with their lives. Peacewood, the Silver Forest, and the Imperial Court would rise up en masse if any were to harm her. She still looks after Azzeln's now many-times great-grandchildren - the Griffonsprydes, though she does not interfere with their lives if she can help it.

Now the years are weighing heavily upon her, and the time she spends among humans is growing short. She longs for the tranquility of Peacewood, to hear the song of the wind in the trees and feel the life of the earth beneath her feet. She grieves for the terrible destruction Teshar has wrought, but knows that her time is short and her strength fading. She both longs for and is saddened with the thought of those final steps on the forest path.

Tactics: Aleana rarely travels mundanely anymore. Typically, someone from Peacewood provides teleportation for her. On those rare occasions when she does travel, she does so in disguise (alter self or a hat of disguise) or under invisibility. She is old and wise, and can easily predict what actions a given opponent will take. She is loathe to risk herself, and will retreat from physical or magical combat whenever possible. If it is unavoidable, she will let the most combat-capable draw the attention while she takes out enemy spellcasters or supports allies. Her preferred methods are to use a combination of Invisibility, Fly and Mirror Image. She will move herself out to long distance (preferring cover) to snipe with bow or spell. If she sees an opportunity to flank an enemy spellcaster, she will close and Power Attack.

NPC RECORD SHEET Symbol: Golden Griffon, Silver Sword, Emerald Tree
Name: Prince Andirion Keliveyr Handedness: Right Height: 5'2"
The Wayward Prince
Location: Silver Forest Eye Color: Light Amber Weight: 120lb.
Class: Warrior Hair Color: Honey Build: Athletic
Level: 5 (?) Sex: Male Alignment: CG
Race: Silver Forest Elf* Date of Birth: Unknown Deity: Unknown

Description: A slender Elf with handsome features, Andirion attracts notice wherever he goes. Usually dressed in rugged travelling attire, he moves with a flowing grace and quiet unusual even among Elvenfolk. His face is a touch on the thin side and has been marked by both sun and wind. His hands are surprisingly strong.

*Andirion is a born shapeshifter, though he has not said what form(s) he can take. He has indicated that the ability exists in both sides of his family.

The eldest son of the noblest Elven House, Andirion is a natural-born leader. Headstrong and always seeking to do "the right thing," his closest friend is Aramil. Indeed, Andirion spent five long years seeking his lost friend and neglecting his duties to family and people. Now that Aramil has been found, if not healed, Andirion has no choice but to return to the Silver Forest and take his seat on the King's Council. Andirion has hired our adventurers to act as agents of Fenuihl, sending them out to lead the beings pursuing them safely away, strike at the Tesharans ravaging the Freelands, and buy time so that his own people can assist them with their various goals. Andirion, as part of his agreement with our adventurers, revealed that he was born a shapeshifter - thus explaining why silver causes him pain.

NPC RECORD SHEET Symbol: Dark circlet crown and lightning strike
Name: Asrexius Handedness: Left Height: 5'9"
King of Teshar, The King Hereafter
Location: Teshar Eye Color: Violet Weight: 123lb.
Class: Wizard (?) Hair Color: Gray Build: Skeletal
Level: 20+ (?) Sex: Male Alignment: NE
Race: Lich (?) Date of Birth: Unknown Deity: Dargoth (?)

Description: Asrexius has been seen only a few times since the return of Anryth. Though at a distance, he appears human, history distinctly proves that his current form is, at best, a deception. Whatever the case, he can alter his appearance at will through magic.

Asrexius is old and mighty. The name he was born with has been lost to antiquity, whether through design, or perhaps as punishment for a crime so heinous it is not recorded anywhere save in the nightmares of gods, is unknown. Now, he is simply known as Asrexius, The King Hereafter. He it was who first devised the formula by which a mortal mage could sacrifice an Elven soul and thereby extend his own life past death. He it was who founded the priesthood of Dargoth, raised it once in the Empire of Tesh and a second time in the Free City of Anryth, long after the Teshian Empire was swallowed into dust, to spread its dread shadow across the world. He it was who sundered the Gates of the Abyss, loosing the Demon Prince Arrkhryn on his unsuspecting subjects, bringing about the end of his own realm as a sacrifice to his foul Lord. Even those who are acknowledged masters of the history of Ular’s Children, the people of Tesh, have only the barest hints, the faintest whispers of this entity’s existence. There are no records of his life, his death, or the beginnings of his unlife. Those few magi who have met and spoken with Asrexius - Melein the Blue, Maliki Masters, Calvebar Entharien, and others - hint that even Asrexius himself may well have forgotten his own origins.

For ages after the fall of the Teshian Empire, Asrexius remained hidden in his palace, buried under the sands of the Battleplain, alone save for those of his students with whom he’d shared the secrets of unlife. There, he conducted magical researches and experiments, occasionally sending forth his students or servants to collect those materials, or creatures, he needed. Since the Shin Faer Calün, the Holy Warriors of Essea, were gone, few even suspected his existence, let alone possessed the power to oppose him. Safe, hidden, Asrexius created magics and rituals undreamed of by mortal wizards and Dragons alike. Even the Dragonmage Karaman does not know the full extent of the former lich’s accomplishments. What Karaman suspects is enough to cause him to lose several years worth of sleep every century or so. Asrexius’s power and library grew.

Finally came the day when an unsuspecting group of heroes, who called themselves The Iron Company, discovered a set of three Teshian plaques, each depicting a different part of a Teshian city, now lost and buried. They quickly discovered that these plaques acted as magical gates to the pictured areas of the city. Two of those gates were still open. Girding themselves for a truly dangerous, and equally rewarding, journey, they entered the first of the still-active gates...

...And entered one of Asrexius’s libraries, where the lich himself was engaged in research.

More curious than angry, Asrexius decided to wait and watch, to see if the wards and guardians he’d set about that gateway so long ago would hold against these less civilized, younger people. It was a catastrophic error.

By accident rather than design, the heroes burned most of the library. Asrexius, unprepared for the sheer ferocity of this group of warriors and warrior-priests, retreated, after a furious, violent battle. During this battle, Asrexius destroyed several powerful magical items used by the Iron Company, including a Greater Sword of Elemental Fire wielded by one of his attackers. He returned moments later with spells and servants ready - only to be confronted by the sight of the last of his attackers fleeing back through the gate (laden with as much of the unburnt library as they could carry) just as the first of several dozen enraged fire elementals arrived, sent by the Elemental Prince whose fragment of life essence had been bound up in the Greater Sword of Elemental Force.

Asrexius destroyed the elementals, going so far as to banish the Fire Elemental Prince responsible back to his own plane for one thousand years. But what was left of his library was reduced to fine powdery white ash. All that survived was what the Iron Company had stolen.

For the first time in ages, Asrexius took an interest in the outside world.

He first set about exacting vengeance on the various members of the Iron Company. Dyran Topaz, Tatheari Warpriestess of Crom, had her entire family killed. Slowly. Painfully. Blade Bloodsbane was captured, tortured, and released - with a message to the rest of the Iron Company inscribed on the flesh of his body. The wounds would never heal. All of the Plainsman’s goals fell into ruin. Two of the Desert Elven Prince Rakir’s children were stolen and never heard from again, save when fresh portions of their bodies were delivered to his tent every few decades. Eventually those children were sold to a Karanukese wizard, and used in his experiments. Eventually, they grew to adulthood and served a new master - Dread Lord Hazuer of Karanuk. Thorick, a Duanan, was killed and his soul imprisoned in a crystal globe, fully aware of everything going on around him. Asrexius placed him on his mantlepiece, where Thorick could helplessly watch Asrexius plan and execute his revenge.

Eventually, Asrexius and his minions took over the Free City of Anryth, turning it into a new center of power for the priesthood of Dargoth. Asrexius assembled about him other powerful wizards and priests, luring them with the secrets of lichdom and magics that he’d mastered. He was careful to maintain Anryth’s neutrality, and while his presence there became more widely known among various groups, none of his opponents were quite able to gather enough evidence to justify an assault on the city. Slowly, the lich’s influence grew.

At last, though, even a lich’s span must come to an end, and Asrexius felt his time approaching. Perhaps it was his design, or he took advantage of an existing situation. Whatever the case, when the Drow Elf Kashai, his mind and body corrupted by the Dragonstaff and the former Red Dragonmage Verilon, assaulted the Free City of Anryth - backed by the power of the Dragonstaff - Asrexius let him in.

Hundreds died as the Drow battled his way to the center of Anryth. But none opposed him as he strode up through the Guardsmen’s Tower to stand before Asrexius himself. No one outside of the room knows what happened next save Asrexius: The lich taunted the Drow, who stepped forward to attack - straight into a Sphere of Annihilation. The Dragonstaff fell to the ground. Asrexius, who knew the Dragonstaff had been made by Karaman, then polluted and changed by Verilon, took it up and destroyed it. The resulting explosion of the artefact and the magical defenses of Anryth left a crater over one hundred miles wide - what is now Lake Anryth.

Asrexius knew that Kashai Kith’ain would be blamed for the deaths of all the people of Anryth (several hundred thousand). Indeed, the priesthood of Kamarr has spent several centuries seeking out all that Drow’s works and destroying them. They’ve been quite thorough and successful. So has the Drow Kashai Kith’ain gone down in history as the greatest mass-murderer known, reducing the atrocities of Khasil and even Verilon to a mere pittance.

Thus did Asrexius make a final offering to his god, and deceive all into believing he was destroyed.

Now Asrexius has returned, bringing the City of Anryth back from the demiplane where he has kept it for over a thousand years. He has passed well beyond the longevity that lichdom offers, a fact which troubles many. His exact goals are unknown. It is clear from the attacks he launched upon his return that he could have taken the entirety of the Freelands and much of the easter Hartland. Why he has held back is the source of much speculation now.

NPC RECORD SHEET Symbol:
Name: Jorric Unshal Handedness: Right Height: 5'10"
Senior Sorceror of the Aryan Guild
Location: Overunia Eye Color: Light blue Weight: 142lb.
Class: Sorcerer/Aryan Guild Wizard Hair Color: Blond (cut short) Build: Thin
Level: 5(?)/5 Sex: Male Alignment: LN
Race: Human (Aryan) Date of Birth: 4135 Deity: Unknown

Description: Dressed in the white and blue robes of an Aryan Guild sorcerer, Jorric is immaculate. His hair is shiny and perfectly straight with no single strand out of place. His reindeer-leather boots freshly polished. He is clean shaven, straight and sure of posture, and has impeccable manners. Jorric's regular clothing is of the finest silks and linnens, always in light colors to best show off his good looks. As a sorcerer, he is confident in his abilities, analytical in his undertakings, and as competent as any Aryan Guild-trained mage.

An Aryan Guild sorcerer and mercenary, most consider Jorric to be incredibly annoying. He has all the personality traits of a well-dressed wolverine with a bad hangover, but he is always polite and has a distinguished manner about him. Though he is not part of Sylin Tak's "Inner Circle", he performs his duties to perfection, is always clean and well-dressed, and keeps his quarters and workroom in perfect condition. He has a fondness for young, dark-haired women, and loves tobaccos.

The Illithid War Campaign stats
NPC RECORD SHEET Symbol: Curved silver claw superimposed over runic "K"
Name: Karaman Handedness: Ambidextrous Height: special
Valan, Kadrian Ahlun, Vasaularian, Emperor of the Hartland (former)
Location: Unknown Eye Color: Blue Weight: 2000+.
Class: Wizard Hair Color: NA Build: Dragon
Level: 23+ Sex: Male Alignment: LG
Race: Silver Dragon Date of Birth: -2,000 (?) Deity: NA

Description: A shining silver dragon over 200' long, sleek and powerful. His body is perfect, muscular, strong, and beautiful. He fairly radiates power and magic. His blue eyes hold wisdom as well as compassion, even when angered.

Karaman is the Silver Dragonmage, a dragon who has seen the times before the Cataclysm and lived through that great devastation. He is ancient, wise, and powerful, for he is also a Dragonmage of immense power. He taught the Teshians the use of Draconic magic, though came to regret the teaching as the Teshians used his knkowledge to make war on others, and to hunt and kill Dragons. His magical skills are unsurpassed.

In times of conflict, Karaman prefers to use illusions and deception to turn possible attackers aside. By preference, he will cast spells so that unwanted "guests" will see what they expect to see. He will then manipulate the images so that such guests are led astray with as little fuss as possible. When direct confrontation is unavoidable, he will do so only from a position of absolute superiority. Karaman has not lived as long as he has by being stupid. He will not sacrifice himself uselessly against a superior opponent. Instead, like most Dragonmagi, he will flee to fight again another day.

Karaman has been known by many names, always as a friend to the mortal races. He does not seek the extermination of any species. Rather, he is like an infinitely compassionate and wise father. He will assume various identities to work from within a nation, almost always as a sage or wizard of some power, or perhaps a wealthy merchant, but only rarely as a master wizard or Archimage. He prefers a position of advisor or patron. He will manipulate people and events to place good and just people in positions of authority. His experiences with the Teshian Empire have taught him not to trust the wisdom of shorter lived races (note that he considers Elves to be one of these shorter lived races).

Of the treasures in his lair, it is safe to assume that, if he wished, Karaman could buy himself an empire. As for spells, again it can be assumed that he has at least one of nearly everything, save singular objects or artifacts. Those items of power which he doesn't have, he more than likely knows the location of, or at least their attributes and powers. Karaman also knows the correct formulae and processes for making nearly all potions and scrolls, as well as the vast majority of permanent magical items. Again, that which he does not know, he more than likely knows where it can be found (after all, he watched the making of many items of Power).

Karaman is a generous, kind, and just being. He will not tolerate evil in his presence very well. If such is near him, and no violence has been committed, he will use words or magic to make the evil leave. Karaman does believe in taking his time and never rushing into events without more than adequate planning and backup plans. His speech is deep, vibrating, but can be soft and gentle. He is fond of conversation and enjoys intelligent company, even of the many shorter-lived races such as humans and Elves.

Karaman has met, and was on good terms with, the following beings: Maliki Masters, "Bart" Bartholamule, Lirain Alisar, Iarree L'iahier, Dallod Loguire, The Man in Black, as well as several others (who are either long-dead or no longer in existence).

Karaman worked very hard to bring about the fulfillment of the Prophecy of the Seven. He spent two hundred and some odd years assuming the lives of various people in the Seven Kingdoms. He worked great magics to accomplish this, since he knew that even a small hole in his guises would have alerted the Illithid or the Karanukese to his presence, and could well cause either or both to attack him with the advantage. To prevent this, he fully assumed normal (if anyone with such incredibly strong natural magical ability could be "normal") lives - from infancy to old age and death - and maintained a mental state appropriate for such a person. Only when mortal danger or death was imminent did Karaman the Dragonmage emerge. So accomplished was his disguise that not even the other Dragonmagi could find him - a feat which all save Dragonmage Tassrith appreciated fully.

You can understand Karaman's surprise when Shekahl, the Sword of the Hartland, chose him, in his guise as Valan, Court Mage to Duke Borel of Tyris, as the next Emperor of the Hartland. Karaman's intention was to become the Imperial Court Mage. Shekahl, however, had other ideas. This caused him a number of personal difficulties since Valan, who for all intents and purposes "died" the moment Shekahl brought the Dragonmage forth, was very close friends with a number of people - including some of the Seven from the Prophecy.

Karaman successfully defended the reborn Empire first from the Illithid, and then from the Karanukese. He was fully willing to fight, and if necessary, die, facing the Illithid and Dread Lord Hazuer of Karanuk. His reign, as foretold, lasted some five hundred years and became one of those few shining moments in history when the entire world knew a modicum of peace. Finally, satisfied with the work he had wrought, Karaman turned over control of the Empire to the Kenthyr family, and simply, quietly, disappeared. The Silver Dragonmage did well: The groundwork he laid in place lasted some five hundred years more, and would have gone even further, had not other events taken place.

Where Karaman now resides, none can say. The most powerful wizards of the Hartland insist the Silver Dragonmage yet lives, for they can feel very faint traces of his power, having been directly exposed to Karaman for so long. Of the other Dragonmagi, all but a few returned to their remote homes after the Illithid War. One who remained, to watch over the Kathnyri people, Paradelion, the Gold Dragonmage, was once asked by a Kathnyri Prince where Karaman had gone. Paradelion answered, "Like the eldest of us all, Iridesce, who now lies slain on the field of battle against the Illithid, young Karaman knows now the touch of mortality upon his immortal Dragon soul. He, who once knew the unending passage of aeons, now feels the slow turning of days, the chill touch of death... always. You can neither comprehend nor appreciate the terrible sacrifice he has made for us all. Leave him in peace."

NPC RECORD SHEET Symbol:
Name: Mage Kiaun Si'anthe Handedness: Right Height: 5'3"
Location: Fenuihl, Tevel Eye Color: Sapphire Blue Weight: 131lb.
Class: Wizard Hair Color: Shiny Black Build: Slender
Level: 14 (?) Sex: Male Alignment: CG
Race: Silver Forest Elf Date of Birth: Unknown Deity: Unknown

Description: Dressed in fine robes of light cloth and silk with intricate runes of gold thread on black ribbon, Kiaun is an unassuming wizard of calm demeanor and quiet power. His deep blue eyes glimmer with suppressed excitement and just a hint of past suffering. He tends to a quietness beyond that typical of his race. His skin is very pale, having rarely been touched by the sun in his long life.

The premier student of Magister Dair Slendertree, Kiaun wards the city whenever his master is away. Kiaun is a student in the Elven sense of the word. He has held off at least one of the Dread Guard by himself.

As the second most powerful wizard in Fenuihl, Kiaun is a pleasant introvert. He is greatly troubled by the falling out between himself and his brother, Riaun. Kiaun has grown close to Rufio out of interest in the Southern Isles. He does not get along well with Beun. His younger (very young) sister, Siaun, apparently favors him over their brother.

Kiaun's goals are plain to see: First, the protection of Fenuihl. Second, reconciliation with his brother. Third, peace and quiet to pursue his studies. Always a gentle soul, Kiaun is capable of a ruthlessness that surprises those who know him well. It is fortunate that he does not share his brother's temper.

NPC RECORD SHEET Symbol: None
Name: Paradelion Handedness: Left Height: special
Embergold, The Ageless, Suravan
Location: Kathnyri Empire Eye Color: Yellow Gold Weight: 2000+.
Class: Wizard Hair Color: NA Build: Dragon
Level: 23+ Sex: Male Alignment: LG
Race: Gold Dragon Date of Birth: Unknown, predates current written records Deity: NA

Description: Old, wise, and powerful. Paradelion, in his true form, is enormous, even for a Gold Dragon. Many scars mar his scaly hide, all of them stories gouged from his body in a map of life stretching back to the dim beginnings of civilization. His one source of pride is his claws, for they are perfect, unmarred, and magically sharp. His eyesight is somewhat impaired, for he lost his right eye in a long ago battle against heroes of the very people he now serves.

When he travels among humans, as he frequently does in the Kathnyri Empire, Paradelion most often uses the guise of an old, black-robed, golden-haired wizard of mediocre ability and wealth. His right eye, in this shape, is usually hidden behind a magical eyepatch that allows him to see all things as they truly are. At least, that is what the bard's say.

With the death of Iridesce in the Illithid War, Paradelion became the eldest of the living Dragonmagi. He has spent the last many centuries as an advisor to the Kathnyri Emperors, offering his wisdom and accumulated knowledge of the world and magic with only one reservation: He will not give advice if he believes his knowledge will be used for evil. The Kathnyri nation has prospered with his assistance.

Next to Tassrith, Paradelion has the most direct involvement in affairs of nations. However, he spends as much time roaming the Kathnyri streets in various guises as he does lurking about the imperial palace. Paradelion exemplifies one of the primary Draconic idiosyncracies: Infinite curiosity about the doings of shorter-lived races.

Paradelion speaks little of his past. He has worked under so many inconspicuous guises that his true actions are difficult to trace. From comments made in the past, he and Iridesce met many times, and likely worked together creating the Storm Ward to contain the wild magics the Kathnyri unleashed on the Teshians. He seems to regard Tassrith as irrelevant, while holding the nearly as-young Karaman in high regard. Indeed, many believe that only Paradelion knows where the Silver Dragonmage is now.

NPC RECORD SHEET Symbol:
Name: Riaun Si'anthe Handedness: Ambidextrous Height: 5'4"
Location: Silver Forest, Wanders Eye Color: Green Weight: 143lb.
Class: Ranger/Warrior Hair Color: Blonde Build: Athletic
Level: 4/9 Sex: Male Alignment: CG (?)
Race: Silver Forest Elf Date of Birth: Unknown Deity: Unknown

Description: A grim Elf of surprising good looks, he is driven and troubled by inner demons. It is obvious that Riaun's pain has been gnawing away at him for years, perhaps even a century, slowly working its way through the once generous and carefree Elf. Dedicated to his own personal causes and vicious with his enemies, Riaun Si'anthe is not one to trifle with.

Riaun Si'anthe has become an outsider even to his own people. He does not care to stay overlong in the Silver Forest. Instead, he undertakes missions that get him away from his home, his memories, and most especially his brother Kiaun. Unfortunately, Kiaun is now stationed in Fenuihl, and those assignments which require travel almost always bring Riaun to Tevel.

Riaun is hard and bitter, but skilled in battle. Whether he and his brother will ever reach an accord is unknown.

Description: An unassuming, stoop-shouldered man, clean shaven and studious. Rodrick walks with a limp due to an old injury to his left knee. Always accompanied by his walking staff and a thick book, in which he keeps records and notes, Rodrick normally wears the formal brown and black trimmed robes of his office. Rodrick is inoffensive, thoughtful, and is agreeable to all manner of people.

Rodrick is Sylin Tak's right-hand man. His left knee was crippled during a near-fatal encounter with an ankheg as a child. He has walked with a limp ever since. Though he is of common birth, and has all the combat skill of a wet rag, Rodrick has honed his intellect to the point that he alone of all Overunians is probably Sylin's intellectual equal. Though not as skilled a wizard as The Lady, there is little that occurs in the country of Overunia that he is not aware of. Rodrick handles most of the "emotional nonsense" for Sylin. He is very good at seeming less competent than he is.

All things considered, Castellain Rodrick would much prefer a quiet library to read and study in, rather than the often unpleasant duties of Castellain and Governor. Though he is not averse to employing less than pleasant means to protect his beloved land, such decisions are a great burden on him. He longs for the day when he can turn over his duties to someone competent enough who also enjoys such work, for he does not.

NPC RECORD SHEET Symbol: Golden Griffon, Silver Sword, Emerald Tree

Prince Regent of the Silver Forest (former), Warden of the Trail of Tears (former), Protector of the Realm, First Knight of the Silver Forest
Location: Trailkeep Eye Color: Amber Weight: 152 lb.
Class: Ra/Wiz Hair Color: Blonde Build: Moderate
Level: 8/10 Sex: Male Alignment: CG
Race: Silver Forest Elf Date of Birth: 2561 Deity: Corellon

Description: An old, frail Elf with lustrous hair and shining, piercing eyes, Seloveyan has an easy smile and is always polite. His movements are slow and carefully measured. He studies all he meets with an age-old wisdom that comes only from harsh experience. It is obvious that he has borne many heavy burdens in his life, but those duties have left him unbowed and unconquered. Always dressed in fine leathers of forest hues, Seloveyan is an Elf of exceptional talent and wisdom.

Seloveyan is the head of House Keliveyr, cousin to the now-deceased King of the Silver Forest, Ferain Til’haren, and the Warden of Trailkeep, the castle and city guarding the Trail of Tears (a canyon through the Escarpment. He is also the half-brother of Vaeran Keliveyr, formerly First Advisor to the ElfKing, now slain as a traitor to his people. Seloveyan is reclusive but amicable in the company of others. He has always been Human-kind’s greatest proponent to his kin in the Silver Forest, though this has at times caused him to be very unwelcome company indeed.

The Warden of Trailkeep did not like his half-brother Vaeron, and he fully resented Vaeron's influence over King Til’haren. To avoid trouble at court, Seloveyan stayed away when he could, working quietly in the background to end the isolation of the Silver Forest from lands further west. But when, Vaeron proposed a war policy towards Humans, especially after an attacks on the Golden Flyers (which Seloveyan later discovered was planned by his half-brother) and the kidnapping of the King's daughter, Aleana, who was an ambassador to the Hartland, Seloveyan once more took his place at the King’s Council and openly opposed Vaeron.

This conflict nearly tore the kingdom apart, for both Seloveyan and Vaeron were well-liked, respected, and had performed many great deeds to the benefit of the Silver Forest. As he looked further into his brother’s affairs, Seloveyan became more alarmed as he discovered that Vaeron already had dealings with several other kingdoms, including Karanuk. He used his few contacts with the outside world to interrupt his half-brother’s efforts, eventually discovering a dire truth.

Vaeron was planning a ritual, by which he would sacrifice Aleana Til’haren’s soul to the evil God Bael, in exchange for the power of a Chaos Lord. Once completed, the rite would make Vaeron a direct agent of Bael on Hybrana, with sufficient power to shatter cities and raise all the foul creatures of Avamor against the Elven people.

Seloveyan used his contacts with a group of adventurers known as the Iron Company to stop Vaeron and rescue Princess Til’haren. It was too late for the Princess, but not to late to destroy Vaeron while he was still gaining power. (See Aleana Til’haren for more details). His chosen agents succeeded in that. And Seloveyan quietly told his King what had happened, and provided the proof of Vaeron’s treachery. King Ferain named Seloveyan First Advisor.

Over the centuries since then, Seloveyan has worked hard to finally get his people to accept the fact that they can not live apart in this world; that this is what led to the RaceWars in the first place. He helped Prince Iayz establish the trading city of Tarene in the Corinian Forest, thereby allowing Elven goods into foreign markets. He helped create treaties with the Knights of Shin Faer Calun at Caer Shalun (also in the Corinian Forest), and the people of Dandria. He even encouraged his people to revitalize their skills as shipwrights and sailors, creating one of the few ocean trade routes to Ralkstag. He had finally succeeded when King Ferain Til’haren was assassinated by Bedtime Bob, a notorious Blood Pact Assassin.

Since he was the only Prince of the Twelve Houses that the none of the other Princes or Princesses disliked, Seloveyan was named regent, until King Ferain’s infant son could assume the throne. Seloveyan accepted with strong reservations, only to be immediately hit by a surprise attack from the Orcs of Mnar, aided and abetted by the Witch-King Atu’an.

Seloveyan has fought and bled himself white for his people. Changing the Silver Forest Elves’ isolationist attitude and keeping them safe was his Crusade. For a long time, it made him a very hard person.

The few bright spots in the Prince Regent’s life are his friends Sir Alkirev Keliveyr (Marshall of the Golden Flyers), Sir Rieson (Knight-Lieutenant of the Golden Flyers), Prince Azzeln Vaetha (the Drow bodyguard to Emperor Karaman of the Hartland), his "niece" Aleana Til’haren, and his wife-consort, Iliceria (whom he loves far more dearly than his own personal Crusade, though few outside his circle of friends know this).

Seloveyan is an Elf who thrives on challenge and hardship. The worse the situation gets, the better he becomes. He does not realize just how much the Silver Forest Elves admire, nearly worship, him - including his friends. He does not see himself as worthy of such adulation. After the Silver Forest was decimated by the Mnarian Orcs, Seloveyan saw an opportunity to unite the scattered Elven people - from Peacewood, the Aruitai, Avernia, and the Silver Forest - once more, in spirit, if not physically. It was an unrealized truth that nothing could have stopped his dream from coming to fruition after that near extinction under the blades of Mnarian Orcs, not even Seloveyan's own death. For Seloveyan was one of two Elves universally admired by all the Elven people. Even now, his name is a rallying cry as far away as Peacewood.

Now in the twilight of his life, Seloveyan has worked hard - first as Regent of the Silver Forest, later as First Royal Advisor to the young King. As Advisor, he travelled far - even to the Ci'thas, distant cousins of the Silver Forest Elves on the Southern Continent - and labored to bring together the scattered and decimated Elven Race... even the last remnants of the Drow taking shelter among the Peacewood Elves. On his few visits to the Imperial Court of the Hartland, he was welcomed and hailed as a hero, though his part in the Illithid War was small. There yet remain statues dedicated to his memory in the cities of the Hartland and even the Dwarves of the Twin Kingdoms speak highly of his life to this day.

Though his end is near, he still remains one of the primary political forces among the Elven people. He has given up all but a few of his titles to his great-grandson Andirion and now leaves the year to year matters in the hands of the rest of the Keliveyr family. Now he only steps in when asked. Many regard Seloveyan with more respect than they do their own King. Indeed, the Emperors of the Hartland have a custom of bowing to this noble Elf whenever they are graced with his presence. Seloveyan seeks quiet and peace for these last few years of his life. When he passes, Avamor will lose one of the truly great.

NPC RECORD SHEET Symbol: Three horned circle of gold
Name: Sylin Tak Handedness: Right Height: 5'8"
Warlord of Overunia, The Lady of Overunia, The Renegade Dread Guard
Location: Overunia Eye Color: Crystal, blue Weight: 143 lb.
Class: Fighter(?)/Wizard Hair Color: Brown with red highlights Build: Moderate
Level: NA Sex: Female Alignment: LN
Race: Human (Dread Guard) Date of Birth: NA Deity: NA

Notes: See also Overunia (country), Overunia

Description: A woman of iron strength, Sylin Tak is regal and authoritative. Usually dressed in the tan and gold-trimmed robes of Ancient Tesh, she keeps her hair pulled back in a severe braid. Her fine ivory, parchment-like skin shows no blemishes. Her eyes are like cut crystal, alien, with a faint hint of blue. She rarely displays jewelry, and always wears fine black linen gloves.

A Teshian wizard of considerable power, Sylin is the result of several experiments by Asrexius. She has little tolerance for "emotional nonsense" and prefers to handle problems in the most efficient way possible. Sylin is very aware of her own shortcomings, and therefore gathers up people around her to compensate. Vicious and deadly in combat, she hates Asrexius with a passion bordering on insanity. Her inhuman nature is readily apparent from her appearance, and also shows in her lack of interest for more intimate contacts.

Sylin Tak came to Overunia in early 4193 and took control of the rapidly failing state of the Freelands. She has beaten back the Tesharan forces, personally facing her former peers, the Dread Guard, in personal combat, and won. She claims to have escaped Asrexius, and to hate him above all other creatures. Indeed, her every move can be linked back to her near overwhelming desire to destroy him.

Sylin has slowly earned the trust, respect, and obedience of the Overunian people. Her stated policy is to accept all comers, provided that they aid her against Teshar. Other countries, notably the Empire of the Hartland and Fenuihl, openly distrust her intentions. Many believe that she is merely the instrument of Asrexius. She herself has admitted that she suspects Asrexius let her escape to further his own plans.

Thus far, Asrexius has made few direct attempts to oust The Lady of Overunia. Most believe it is because she has not yet shown herself to be a significant threat. So far, she has managed to hold Overunia against Teshar, but just barely.

Knight of the Golden Flyers, and Prince Andirion Keliveyr's direct representative in Fenuihl, Talien is an Elven Knight in every sense of the word. He looks after the Prince's interests in Fenuihl diligently. Sir Talien is trustworthy and sincere, though unusually reserved for an Elf.

NPC RECORD SHEET Symbol: Crown of Fire over Red Talon on White
Name: Tassrith Handedness: Ambidextrous Height: Special Image of Tassrith
Emperor of Draccaea, The Red Dragonmage, Tyrant of the South
Location: Draccaea Eye Color: Amber Weight: Special
Class: Dragonmage Hair Color: Red Build: Special
Level: 18 Sex: Male Alignment: CE
Race: Red Dragon Date of Birth: 987(?) Deity: NA

Description: A blood-red dragon over four hundred feet long from nose to tail, Tassrith is mighty and terrible to behold. His chest and underside bear terrible scars - a testament to the many battles he has fought and won against other Dragons. His claws and teeth are a dark, dull black, deeply scored by the armor and weapons of those he has slain and consumed. He fairly exudes arrogance and contempt for all other beings, including the other Dragonmagi.

Tassrith is the successor to Verilon, former Red Dragonmage and Emperor of Draccaea, by right of might and viciousness. The youngest of the Dragonmagi, Tassrith has only recently mastered patience and his temper. Though he is the least magically skilled of his peers, with the possible exception of Paradelion, Tassrith also inherited the Crown of Fire from Verilon (see below). With this artefact's ability to draw upon the magical ley lines and nodes on a continent, Tassrith's raw magical power could be nearly the equal of Karaman's.

Tassrith does not appear to have the full measure of greed and acquisitiveness inherent in his kind. In fact, he seems to follow a higher ethical calling. His predecessor, Verilon, spent thousands of years conducting a breeding program to mix Draconic and Human heritage in an effort to create a cadre of magically and physically powerful, but easily dominated, soldiers in a quest for domination of the Southern Continent. Tassrith, and many of the Dragonmagi, believe this mad plan was a result of insanity brought on by the Crown of Fire. And madness it was. Tassrith has inherited a land torn by not only political and military strife, but also by the machinations of Verilon's experimental by-blows. Tassrith realized early in his life that the Human heritage was unable to contain the Draconic lust for wealth and power. Instead, the blood of mortals seemed to weaken what little control the Draconic heritage exercised over the passions of the Draconic nature.

Secretly, Tassrith has halted Verilon's breeding program, and now actively discourages the T'ang houses from having any children of Draconic blood. His aim is to put an end to those of mixed heritage without having to conduct pogroms or ethnic cleansing (though it must be said he seriously considered those options). With the advent of the Prophecy of the Seven, and the arrival of the Prophecy's principal agents in his domain, his efforts to mitigate Verilon's insanity have been put on hold.

Now Tassrith has journeyed north to Hybrana, accompanied only by a few trusted guards, to throw his full power against the Illithid. It is a strange sight indeed to see the Red and Silver Dragonmagi battling side-by-side against the mind flayers. Tassrith is being forced to use the Crown of Fire more and more to mitigate the Illithid's ability to drain away magical energy. He fears that the growing frequency of his reliance on that artefact's abilities will destroy his sanity as it did Verilon's.

Tassrith does not get along at all well with the other Dragonmagi. He is not used to being the least powerful or the youngest and least experienced. Though he and Karaman have come close to open conflict on a number of occasions, Tassrith has always managed to pull back from the edge of losing his temper. Which is fortunate, as Tassrith is far from his own assets and allies, while Karaman is in the center of his power. Tassrith's open contempt and pervading arrogance have not won him any friends on Hybrana. However, his willingness to fight, even die, against the Illithid has at least gained him respect from various quarters.

Tassrith is further aggravated by Karaman's crowning. For two centuries, none of the Dragonmagi had been able to locate Karaman, or contact him by any magical or mundane means. All the Dragonmagi save two (Khasil and Iridesce) were present when the Emperor's Sword chose Valan, Court Mage of Duke Borel in Tyris, as the next Emperor of the Hartland - and revealed him as Karaman. Tassrith took this as a personal affront, since his peers did not seem anywhere near surprised enough. The Red Dragonmage has concluded that he was deliberately kept in the dark by his peers. Tassrith does not like surprises. He does not deal well with surprises. He is furious over this perceived deception. (What Tassrith does not realize is that the other Dragonmagi were actually more appreciative of Karaman's cleverness and innovation, as well as respectful of the sacrifice the Silver Dragonmage was making on all their behalfs. They took it as a well-played joke.)

Tassrith is a strange mix of high ideals and rage barely held in check. He is a firm believer in "If you want it done right, do it yourself!" and respects those who see to their responsibilities in person. His rule of Draccaea is a strong reflection of that. He will assign tasks to the most capable people he can, then bloodily eradicate them and their families if they fail. He views Karaman as "soft". Where Karaman will use a gentle word of encouragement, Tassrith will scourge with a whip. Tassrith will readily defend nearly anyone who stands up for their personal rights (provided they have the might to do so) while at the same time decrying that person for being "cattle suitable for breeding."

As a final note, during his time in the north, Tassrith has realized that words can be as effective a weapon as his own claws. Even if he's not very good with them.

Crown of Fire (Artefact)
A red and gold crown of living flame that seems to crawl and shift as it is watched.

The exact origins of the Crown of Fire are unknown. It is remotely possible that the deceased Red Dragonmage Verilon created the device, but most scholars believe this unlikely. It's powers, both known and suspected (marked with a ?) are:

NPC RECORD SHEET Symbol: Dark circlet crown and lightning strike
Name: Dread Guard Tizorn Jek of Anryth Handedness: Right Height: 6'1"
Lord Commander of the Dread Guard
Location: Teshar, Anryth Eye Color: Crystalline Gray Weight: 167lb.
Class: Fighter/Wizard Hair Color: Light Brown Build: Thin
Level: 10/7 (?) Sex: Male Alignment: ?
Race: Dread Guard (Human) Date of Birth: Unknown Deity: Unknown

Description: Clad in the leather and breastplate typical of Tesharan elite soldiers, Tizorn Jek radiates contempt and scorn for those around him. His crystalline eyes seem to pierce through you, looking into your soul, even as the curl of his mocking smile tells you what he thinks of your worth. The broadsword and shortsword at his side are of archaic make and well-used. His attire varies, depending on his current assignment and degree of success in fulfilling it. But it is always of the best quality and designed to improve his overall chances of success.

Leader of the Dread Guard and often ruler of Anryth in Asrexius' stead, Jek is a cold, calculating, and cruel beast. He times his attacks to inflict the maximum amount of damage as quickly as possible while achieving the desired goal. Jek is believed to be more powerful than any of the other Dread Guard, for he has received wounds that have caused his fellows to withdraw, and yet he seems unaffected by them. He has been burned, frozen, electrocuted, doused in acid, and struck by a prismatic spray - all with little or no effect.

As ruler of Anryth while Asrexius is busy elsewhere, Jek is brutally efficient. Asrexius has, on several occasions, ordered him to restrain himself and use less than lethal or crippling methods to keep the Tesharan kingdom running. Jek obviously chafes at such duties. His true pleasure is for those special missions Asrexius sends him on, for he is relentless, untiring, and has never failed when there is even the remotest possibility of success. In the course of the five years since Anryth's return, Jek has successfully snuck into Hartland encampments and slain commanders and commoners alike, conducted a surgical strike into Chakka-Luk and slain the three best warriors of the Hammerring clan, battled the Red Dragon Ferasaug and nearly killing the wyrm, and ventured alone into the Battleplain to scout for new ruins to excavate. He has participated in three attempts by the Tesharans to break through Fenuihl's defenses, striking deep into the forest lands each time before being forced back by the Druids. So far, he has taken the heads of no less than five of the Fenuihl Druids during those battles.

Jek normally travels in the company of about a dozen of his hand-picked elite troops. Hard and vicious men all, Jek wields them with an iron grip and ruthless determination. He has not easily suffered the loss of any of his personal men, and ensures that they are well-paid, well-cared for, and want for nothing when they are not acting on Asrexius' orders.

Tizorn Jek currently pursues both Willuhm (PC) and, to a lesser extent, Eva (PC). Most of the Dread Guard fear him, for Tizorn Jek is quick to anger and resolves his problems by killing them. The only times Jek has ever completely backed down from one of his infamous rages are in Asrexius's presence, or General Zaryg's.

NPC RECORD SHEET Symbol: Crossed Swords of the Empire
Name: Tomas LeRoi Handedness: Ambidextrous Height: 6'2"
The Lord of Swords, Hero of the Empire
Location: Dalkhold Eye Color: brown Weight: 180lb.
Class: Fighter/Weaponmaster Hair Color: Blonde Build: Muscular
Level: 7/10 Sex: Male Alignment: CG
Race: Human (Hartland) Date of Birth: 4169 Deity: Unknown

Description: A tall scarred man of incredible physique, he is a swordsman extraordinaire. A jewel-hilted longsword hangs at his right, while a plain, but beautifully-made, one hangs at his left. Across his right shoulder, yet a third hilt displays a pommelstone of unblemished black opal. Loose-fitting dark brown leather armor and simple, but sturdy, boots of fine make complete his appearance. His gaze is clear and his expression is serene, save for the emotional scars of terrible suffering and pain.

Perhaps the greatest hero of modern times, Tomas LeRoi is the bastard son of the current Emperor's uncle and a common peasant woman. Tutored by the Illithid War hero Azzeln Vaetha at the Griffonspryde Estate, he renounced any claim to the Imperial Throne for himself and his own children.

After winning the title Lord of Swords at the Gathering on the Southern Isles, Tomas embarked on a career as a commoner's hero. He fought many duels, some of them to the death, to protect the ordinary folk, to champion their cause and bring them justice and fairness. It was during this self-imposed crusade that he met his wife and true love, Katherine. Tomas and Katherine settled down in the village of Tomas's birth, on the border of the plains. Even at his young age, Grand Dukes, Knights, and other nobles sent their sons and daughters to him for teaching in the art of the sword.

Then Anryth returned, and the Tesharan forces struck deep into the Empire. Without waiting for the Emperor's call, Tomas took up his swords and fought against the Tesharan invaders, leaving his pregnant wife behind in the care of her parents. So great was the inspiration of seeing him battle, often alone and cut off from allies, that the defeated and demoralized Hartland forces rallied and held the northern edge of their front until the Tatheari and Western Dwarves could reinforce them. It was during this time that Tomas faced Tesharan General Zaryg, becoming one of the few people to battle the First Death Knight and survive, though barely. The line held, Tomas returned home to recover from his injuries.

He returned to find his village destroyed, and his pregnant wife tortured to death by Tesharan elite forces. Some say he went mad, for even wounded, he set off after their murders. He killed every Tesharan he met, cutting a bloody swath across the new kingdom. He eventually caught up to his family's killers, led by the Dread Guard Kylek Zün. He slaughtered them to the last man, decapitating the Dread Guard and mounting his head on his own spear to mark the site. Then, Tomas LeRoi disappeared for two long years.

He has resurfaced in Dalkhold, and is probably the main reason that country is holding out against both Teshar and Deviné. The heartening effect of just the rumor of his aid to Dalkhold has raised morale among the Freelanders, and commensurately lowered it among the Tesharans. Indeed, he once walked into a Devinian town, told the slaver guild representative there that he would no longer tolerate their activities in Dalkhold. Then he killed the slavers, every last one of them, and walked out. Devine has temporarily halted slave raids into Dalkhold.

NPC RECORD SHEET Symbol: Crescent Dagger on Black
Name: Valantir Handedness: Right Height: 5'10"
Commander-General of the Sekanian Elite, The Nightbane
Location: Se'kania Eye Color: Brown Weight: 160lb.
Class: Fighter/Theif Hair Color: Light Brown/Sand Build: Wiry
Level: 7/5 Sex: Male Alignment: NG (CN)
Race: Human (Freelander/Plainsman?) Date of Birth: Unknown Deity: Unknown

Description: A wiry, dangerous man who fairly radiates an undefinable and intensity. Valantir is either coldly calculating in matters of battle, relaxed and introspective in quiet moments, or displays a nearly uncontrolled elemental rage when facing his most hated enemies: Anyone from Teshar. He is always armed, and constantly sizing up those around him. He bears many scars of pitched battle, and has the always hungry look of someone under constant siege.

Valantir was recruited by Lyndri Mehtoun of Se'kania into the Sekanian Elites. He rose quickly in their ranks, gaining respect and loyalty for his unswerving determination to defeat the Tesharans at every turn. With very, very few exceptions, where the Tesharans have come against The Nightbane, they have lost badly. He earned the nickname for his almost magical skill at invading Tesharan camps at night, even when powerful undead creatures are on guard, and killing their leaders in their sleep. He has consistently evaded even magical guardians on his missions.

The Nightbane has led the Se'kanian Elite to repeated victories over the Tesharans, though Lyndri and the other leaders express concern over Valantir's nearly berserk hatred of Tesharans. He has never once let his personal antipathy interfere with his mission. Instead, he pursues his personal vendetta more as a beloved hobby.

Valantir is currently acting as the Se'kanian Ambassador in Overunia, though whether he is there as Lyndri's assassin against Sylin Tak, or to aid the Overunians against the Tesharans, is unknown.

NPC RECORD SHEET Symbol: Bloody Star
Name: Zaryg Handedness: Left Height: 7'
First Death Knight, Scion of Asrexius, Avaryan's Bane, Grand General of the Dark Swarm, The Soul Eater
Location: Anryth Eye Color: Blue Flame Weight: 487 lb.
Class: Death Knight (Warrior/Wizard) Hair Color: Gray Build: Huge, Muscular
Level: ?/? Sex: Male Alignment: CE
Race: Death Knight Date of Birth: Unknown Deity: Unknown

Description: A huge, dark warrior radiating a palpable aura of corruption, dressed in thick, rusted black, badly scarred and torn spiked plate armor with a thick horned helm and full visor, his burning flame eyes seem to bore into you. His hands are monstrously large, nearly bursting through the mail and plates of his gauntlets. A fetid odor of decay surrounds him as searing waves of pain wash over you.

Zaryg is the first Death Knight, created by Asrexius himself through engineering the putrefaction of a knight of the Shin Faer Calun. Few know what name Zaryg held in life. That he was a highly honored and respected Knight is without question - he yet bears the soiled accouterments he wore and used in life. No one, save Asrexius and Zaryg himself, knows how his downfall was engineered. But fall he did.

Zaryg is a terrible foe. In addition to all of the powers inherent in being undead as well as a Death Knight, he has undergone rites and experiments to increase his abilities a hundred fold. Like Asrexius himself, Zaryg's very presence pollutes his surroundings. Holy water is useless against him, for it is fouled the moment it approaches within 10'. Holy weapons under +3 enhancement in power must save vs. Disintegration or explode for 1d6 hp/plus in a 20' radius when they strike him.

To say that Zaryg hates all things that live would be the grossest understatement. He is quite willing to kill an innocent child, capture its soul, then force the soul into a new vessel so that he can torture it again at his leisure. Zaryg thrives on the pain and suffering of others, revels in their misery and agony. He will go out of his way to seek out, say, a couple known for their great love so that he might hold one bound while he tortures the other to death in full view.

He will often fly into a mindless, killing rage at a perceived insult by those he considers enemies. In such a state, he becomes a berserk killing machine, as if affected by a Haste spell, but fueled entirely by the terrible anger he holds for all that lives.

Zaryg is the worst kind of monster. He is cunning, intelligent, vicious, merciless, cruel, insightful. He will seek out an opponent's weaknesses and exploit them ruthlessly. There is nothing redeemable in his nature. Even his creator, Asrexius, exercises caution in dealing with this, his premier general, his greatest creation. There is no cruelty too great or too petty for him to inflict, so long as it involves spilling blood.

Above all else, Zaryg hates the Shin Faer Calun. The sight of one of these knights will surely drive him into the madness described above. He will cut his way through his own troops to get to a Knight of Caer Shalun, so that he might kill him and steal his soul. Those souls Zaryg treasures, and he will gift them to Asrexius so that his master can make other Death Knights to serve Zaryg. Those Death Knights created in this manner are especially tormented, and hate Zaryg with a diabolical passion. Zaryg keeps these close to him, tied and bound by Asrexius' magics to his service, that he may daily refresh their memories of who they were and how he took it from them. It is said that during these times, Zaryg removes his helm so that his slaves may see him smile with true pleasure.
