The Shin Faer Calün are the oldest order of knighthood on Hybrana. Dating back to the Empire of Tesh, the order was thought destroyed when they stood against the Teshian extermination of the other races. Though they were imprisoned and many executed, still when Tesh called upon them to help destroy the demon prince who'd corrupted and cursed their land, the Shin Faer Calün answered the call. They drove that prince back to his home on the Abyss, then followed him there to destroy him for all time.
Their faith was true. They did slay that vile demon. None of the knights returned.
Ages later, those few Shin Faer Calün who were imprisoned were released. Possessing much of the arcane knowledge of ancient Tesh, they took over and restored the last surviving Teshian fortress: Caer Shalün. From there, they have spread Essea's (now called Avaryan's) teachings far and wide. With the return of Anryth, they have become the implacable enemy of Asrexius and the Dread Guard. Though their numbers are few, they have considerable magical might.
Shin Faer Calün come to their calling in many ways. It is rumored that some were even vile knights of the cruelest fibre. But for each, there came a time when Essea's light shone upon them, causing them to realize the putrefaction of their souls, burning away the corruption, and leaving behind the purity and peace that can only come from the Creator's gaze. These few embark on a quest to Caer Shalün to entreat their brothers and sisters to accept them into the ranks of the Shin Faer Calün.
Candidates are tested severely for their faith, goodness, and dedication to fairness. The minutest trivia of their time of testing is examined at length and in great detail, using means mundane, arcane, and divine. Though a very, very few of the order have been corrupted by evil in the past, no candidate who is less than perfect has ever entered the order.
Wisdom and Strength are the primary abilities for the Shin Faer Calün. They must have the wisdom to know right from wrong, Essea's will from personal desire. Strength, too, is required, both in faith and in tests of arms. The Knights of the Shin Faer Calün are the defenders of all who cannot defend themselves. They are the champions against evil, the last bastion of hope against never-ending night.

Adherence to the Code: Each knight of the Shin Faer Calün follows a strict, unyielding Code:
Alignment Restriction: If a knight ever knowingly commits an evil act, he loses all class special abilities and can no longer gain levels in this prestige class. A knight of the Shin Faer Calün can regain these abilities if he atones for the violations (see the atonement spell in the Player's Handbook).
Arcane Caster (Su): Each Shin Faer Calün level counts as an additional Arcane spellcasting level in whatever Arcane-capable class the knight had before joining this prestige class. The knight may cast additional spells as if he had advanced another level in the Arcane-casting class. The knight does not increase or add any other abilities from the other class.
Armor Proficiencies:(Ex): Shin Faer Calün are proficient with all armors and shields. They also gain bonuses when wearing magical armor blessed by, or dedicated to, Essea (see Blessed Armor below).
Associates: A knight of the Shin Faer Calün may associate freely with any good or neutral being. However, he will not knowingly associate with an evil being for any length of time. Nor will the knight tolerate one who consistently offends his Code. A knight will not hire or accept as a follower anyone who does not conduct himself in an honorable manner, and who is not of good alignment.
Blessed Armor: When wearing armor blessed by Essea or imbued with Essea's power, the knight's Arcane failure rate is halved. This ability affects any armor the knight is wearing, unless that armor is blessed or otherwise dedicated to another deity, is aligned other than Lawful Good, or has any sort of Evil descriptor.
Blessed of the Sun (Su): Imbued with Essea's holy power, the knight gains +2 Strength and +2 Natural AC.
Divine Caster (Su): Every other level, the knight gains an additional Divine spellcasting level in whatever Divine-capable class he had before joining this prestige class. The knight may cast additional spells as if he had advanced another level in the Divine-casting class. He does not increase or add any other abilities from the other class.
Divine Grace of Essea (Su): Strong in his faith, a true knight of Essea gains a Damage Resistance of 8/+1.
Power of the Sun (Su): By concentration, the knight may summon Essea's divine light, causing the Shin Faer Calün to glow as if in full sunlight. The sunlight extends for 60' and lasts one minute per prestige class level. This light has the same effects as natural sunlight. The knight may invoke this ability up to his Wisdom modifier +1 times per day.
Weapon Proficiencies (Ex):Longsword, Greatsword, Lance (all types), Mace (all types), Battleaxe, Quarterstaff, Longbow (composite), and Crossbow (heavy).
